ABOUT B+ AT ALABAMA
FIGHTING TODAY FOR A CHILD'S TOMORROW.
In our efforts to support The Andrew McDonough B+ (Be Positive) Foundation, The B+ Foundation at Alabama strives to instill hope in the lives of those affected by childhood cancer. We encourage unity, raise funds, and spread awareness while inspiring all to Live Like Andrew!
Childhood Cancer is the #1 disease killer of children & teenagers, more than any other disease. There are 16 major types of pediatric cancers and over 100 subtypes. Our organization strives to change those statistics and ensure that children live the long, joyful lives they deserve.
The B+ Foundation at Alabama was founded in 2015 by Lindsay Rieland and Rachel Sodee and has grown substantially over the past four years. The first Spin-A-Thon, held in the Robert E. Witt Student Activity Center spin room, was put together in six weeks and was sponsored by 20 greek organizations.
We encourage students across campus to get involved. This year, we’ve already registered many teams and students from different sororities, fraternities, clubs and organizations for the 2023 Spin-A-Thon.

THE B+ FOUNDATION GOALS ARE TO "DO GOOD" IN THREE WAYS:

PROVIDING
financial and emotional support to families of children with cancer through The B+ Family Assistance Program

SPREADING THE B+ MESSAGE
and helping others to "Live Like Andrew”. To "Live Like Andrew" means to set goals and try your best, show affection, and be comfortable with yourself

FUNDING
childhood cancer research in search of cures and advancements in chemotherapy

The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation honors the life and legacy of Andrew McDonough. The Foundation was born out of tragedy after athlete and ‘A’ student Andrew McDonough battled leukemia, septic shock and complications of childhood cancer for 167 days before passing away on July 14, 2007, at the age of 14. Andrew’s B+ blood type became his family’s and friends’ motto throughout his fight against childhood cancer — to “Be Positive”.
The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation is about Kids Helping Kids Fight Cancer. The B+ Foundation provides financial and emotional support to families of kids affected by cancer nationwide, and funds critical, cutting-edge childhood cancer research. Learn more about B+ Heroes >
